RIP Johan Botha

This past week saw boland loosing one of the biggest legends in the water. Johan Botha passed away on Saterday evening.

Just last week we were sharing waves. He was always full of smiles, full of energy and pushing many of us. Hard to believe we won't be seeing him in the water again.

kom ons duik!

No waves resulted in me dusting of my dive mask and snorkel and I went for a swim infront of my house. I wandered over the outer reef and looked at the fish swimming in "schools" or however you spell it. I had a conversation with a rockfish as well!

I wish I had a GoPro dive housing!

fish

Not exactly breaking news but about 2 months ago I bought myself a surfboard. Did not really post up about it because in all honesty it felt very wrong as a bodyboarder with about 7 years experience to buy a surfboard.

Not just any surfboard it is a fish tail, wide shape making it super easy to ride and pretty fun even when the waves are as big as my feet. It allows me to enjoy myself regardless of the conditions.

You might even be lucky enough to witness one of these

standing on a floater

Complete and utter flat spell. Probably for the better though with all my exams that need good studying for.

Surfed a pretty fun stand up session today at Strand. Pretty much just rode some foamies but the reform was pretty fun on a big floating fish tailed surfboard.

These photos were all taken by Kyle Shelley:

koeel bay, my friend

I don't think anyone can argue the fact that today was an epic day! Spent most of my time in the sea on some sort of wave riding device. A couple of good rides on the boogy board and even had a couple on the stand up board.

Swam around because the water was warm like that of a bottle that's been left in a car. And other than the jelly fish that stung my right nipple all was fine!

Here are some photos from a GoPro swim.
